Drama at WNBA Game! Indiana Fever Fan Thrown Out After Allegedly Touching Saniya Rivers Courtside
Things got tense at TD Garden during Tuesday’s WNBA clash between the Indiana Fever and the Connecticut Sun, as a fan wearing a Caitlin Clark No. 22 jersey was kicked out of the arena after an alleged incident involving Sun guard Saniya Rivers.

The fan, believed to be supporting the Fever, was ejected in the second quarter after Rivers reported that he made contact with her while she was preparing to inbound the ball. The scene quickly gained attention as security escorted the man out, drawing loud reactions from the crowd.

What Actually Happened?
The moment unfolded when Rivers, about to resume play after a timeout, paused for a heated exchange with the referees. Right after that, officials turned their attention to a courtside fan seated near the Sun’s bench. Within moments, the man was asked to leave.

Gabby Alfveby, a beat reporter covering the Connecticut Sun, posted on social media:
“It appears that a Fever fan sitting courtside is escorted out after saying something/touching Saniya Rivers before inbounding the basketball. Rivers brought this to the attention of the referees.”
Even the game broadcasters noticed the incident.
“Another delay,” said play-by-play announcer Pam Ward. “A fan is being escorted out of the building—a fan that was close to the Sun bench. So that was the reason for that delay.”
The exact nature of the interaction hasn’t been made fully clear, but the ejection was swift and decisive.
Crowd Backs Rivers, Slams the Fan
As the fan was led out, support for Saniya Rivers poured in. Spectators loudly booed the man and even waved goodbye as he was escorted up the stairs.

“Saniya Rivers went to the sideline to inbound the ball after a timeout, then stepped away and had a passionate conversation with the refs. It resulted in a fan sitting courtside getting ejected, and fans waved goodbye to him as he walked up the stairs.”

Another called out the fan — identified online as Allan Wylie — saying: “What a clown. You’re sitting courtside and that’s what you do? Very mature of you.”

An eyewitness also confirmed the incident on X:
“A fan was escorted out of TD Garden for TOUCHING Saniya Rivers. She called it out immediately… The fan appears to be an Indiana fan, wearing a Fever tee and sitting courtside next to the CT player bench. #WNBA”
Fever Win the Game, But Worry Over Caitlin Clark Injury
Despite the off-court drama, the Indiana Fever came out on top, beating the Connecticut Sun 85–77. But the win came with a potential setback — Caitlin Clark appeared to suffer a groin injury during the game.
