It is important to ensure that this pile is not more than one and a half feet high. Finally this “bed” is covered with straw or sacks. Periodically sprinkling water is necessary to maintain moisture. It should also be protected from snakes and rats. Earthworms convert this dung into high-quality compost in about 60 days.

This business is very interesting. You can start it with just 50,000 rupees. The biggest expense is buying earthworms. These are available in the market for around Rs 1,000 per kilogram. But the good news is that earthworms can double in number in three months. This means that once you buy earthworms, you don’t need to buy them again to expand your business. Also materials like manure and grass are available at very low prices. Your operating costs will be very low.
