War 2 Review
Ever since War 2 was announced, fans have been counting the days to see Hrithik Roshan return as the deadly Kabir. The excitement went into overdrive when Jr. NTR joined the cast. Now that the film has finally hit theatres, the big question is—does it live up to the hype? Let’s break it down.
A Bigger, Bolder Storyline
The sequel picks up right where War left off. Kabir (Hrithik Roshan), once a RAW agent, is now a cold-blooded mercenary for hire. His motto? “You give me a name, I’ll give you a corpse.”
The opening scene sets the tone—Kabir storms into a Japanese celebration, guns blazing. But when the mafia warns him that only swords are allowed, he coolly picks up a katana and slices through his enemies like an anime hero—speaking Japanese while doing it.
Over 15 months and 20 missions later, Kabir finally crosses paths with the elusive Kali Cartel—a dangerous syndicate spanning India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, all set on taking over India. To do this, they need Kabir on their side. But he has other plans—to destroy them from the inside.
Enter the Equal: Jr. NTR as Major Vikram Jalapati
Kabir’s mission takes an unexpected turn when he’s tasked with capturing Major Vikram Jalapati (Jr. NTR)—a man who matches him in skill, strength, and smarts. Once friends, they’re now fierce enemies.
What follows is a relentless face-off between Kabir and Vikram. The action is intense, but after a point, it feels never-ending—almost exhausting.
Kiara Advani’s Limited but Impactful Role
Kavya Luthra (Kiara Advani) enters as Kabir’s former love interest, adding emotional weight to the story. She shines in her first-ever action-packed avatar, but sadly, doesn’t get enough screen time to leave a lasting impact.

First Half vs Second Half – A Tale of Two Films
Director Ayan Mukerji kicks things off in style—Hrithik’s first-half scenes are pure swag, especially his fiery entry. But the second half loses steam.
Instead of keeping the adrenaline high, the movie dives deep into multiple backstories. Emotional dialogues drag on, slowing the pace. The frequent location changes across 10–15 countries make the plot harder to follow.
The Action: Thrilling but Overdone
The Hrithik vs Jr. NTR fight scenes start strong but become repetitive. You find yourself wondering when the showdown will finally end.
Also, while Jr. NTR delivers a solid performance, the heavy VFX used on him ends up being distracting.
The Rest of the Cast & Technicals
Ashutosh Rana leaves a strong mark. The songs, especially Janab-e-Aali, are already hits, and Hrithik even throws in some signature dance moves. The cinematography is stunning, but the editing could have been much tighter.

Final Verdict
Hrithik Roshan carries War 2 with his charisma, action skills, and style. Jr. NTR is impressive but doesn’t quite match Hrithik’s energy—partly due to the distracting VFX work. The film has explosive moments, but it’s weighed down by a dragging second half and overstuffed storytelling.
If you loved the first War, this sequel might not hit quite as hard—but it’s still worth a watch for Hrithik’s magnetic presence and some truly spectacular action sequences.
The Story: Bigger, Louder, Riskier
The sequel picks up from where War left off. Kabir (Hrithik Roshan), no longer a RAW agent, is now a deadly mercenary who lives by one brutal mantra: “You give me a name, I’ll give you a corpse.”
The film opens in Japan with an electrifying action sequence—Kabir crashes a mafia gathering, trades guns for a katana, and slices through enemies like an anime warrior, speaking Japanese while doing it.
After 15 months and 20 deadly missions, Kabir finally draws the attention of the Kali Cartel—a multinational crime syndicate operating from India to Sri Lanka. They want him to help execute their plan to take over India. But Kabir has other plans—to destroy them from within.
Performances & Technical Brilliance
- Hrithik Roshan: At his absolute best—stylish, intense, and magnetic. His action scenes and dance in Janab-e-Aali are fan favourites.
- Jr. NTR: Strong presence but let down by unnecessary visual effects.
- Kiara Advani: Solid in limited screen time.
- Ashutosh Rana: Powerful performance as always.
The cinematography is gorgeous, the songs are chartbusters, and the background score works—but the editing could have been sharper.
Final Verdict
War 2 is a visual spectacle with powerhouse performances, especially from Hrithik Roshan. While the first half is an adrenaline rush, the second half suffers from pacing issues and repetitive action.
