Krishna Vamsi was born on July 28, 1962 in Tadepalligudem, West Godavari district. His real name is Pasupuleti Venkata Bangarraju. He was very interested in films since childhood. He used to watch films every day. After completing his intermediate, he told his father that he had decided to enter the film industry. However, his father said that he would see after completing his degree, so he studied hard. After that, he also did his post-graduation under his father’s pressure. However, since his father did not agree to enter the film industry, one day Vamsi took a train to Madras without telling his family. Later, his father found out about his whereabouts and brought him back home. When Vamsi insisted that he would go to the film field, he also agreed.

His father sent Vamsi to P.S. Prakash through someone he knew. Vamsi had no clarity on what to do there, except for the idea of going into the industry. When he said he would work in the camera department, he was hired as a lightboy. He worked there for two years. That’s where he met Brahmaji. At that time, Vamsi learned that Ram Gopal Varma was making a film with Shiva and joined his directing department. He became very close to Varma in a very short time. Krishna Vamsi worked as an associate for many of Varma’s films after Shiva. Varma changed his name from Vamsi Krishna to Krishna Vamsi. Varma, who recognized his talent, gave him the opportunity to direct the film one day. After completing two schedules, Varma realized that the budget was increasing significantly, and took over the directorial duties himself. However, Vamsi, unfazed, worked as an associate director on that film.

Knowing this, Varma offered to make a film under the Varma Creations banner along with Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited. Thus, Krishna Vamsi became the director with the film Gulabi. This film became a huge hit. Nagarjuna, who saw Vamsi taking it, said, “If you prepare the story, let’s make the film.” Vamsi pitched a story in an action backdrop. Nagarjuna also said the same. Although he had gained a good name as a director for the film Gulabi, everyone appreciated that Varma had shot it wonderfully, so he decided to change his path and gave Nagarjuna the subject of Ninne Pelladatha. Thus, Ninne Pelladatha began in the combination of Nagarjuna and Krishna Vamsi. The audience gave Ninne Pelladhatha a huge success as it was different from Nagarjuna’s films till then.

After this film, he did films like Danger, Rakhi, Chandamama, Shasirekha Parinayam, Mahatma, Mogudu, Paisa, Govindudu Andarivadele and Nakshatra. Only Rakhi and Chandamama succeeded.
